When you buy designer, you’re paying for the quality. Sure, you want to save some money but you still want the excellent value for money. Quality and value are things that knock-off products simply cannot offer. When you start searching for cheaper designer gear, you need to look out for those selling knock-off products and learn how to spot them. Here are the top tips for doing just that.

1.      Check Out the Prices: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. That’s the popular saying for anything that you find where money is involved. Designer products are placed on offer now and then but not for dirt cheap! You won’t find them at 90% off, even when they are in the sales.

If you find something that is on an exceptionally good offer, you need to work out why. It could be the fact that there is some damage along the way but it could also be because their fake products. These aren’t worth a penny and you will just end up spending more in the long term.

2.      Research the Company: Before agreeing to buy anything, do a little research into the company selling it. It doesn’t matter if this store is online or offline – research is your best defence against fake designer clothes. You can quickly doo a search online and if they are guilty of fake products you will soon find out – past customers will leave their thoughts about the store.

This is often better than asking the store for testimonials – they will give you the good reviews but not let you see the bad ones! By checking for third-party reviews you can see if the company made mistakes, whether they are false advertising or just offer poor quality goods.

3.      Check the Labels: This is often harder if you shop online but when you’re walking around the store, make sure  you check the labels. You want to make sure they match the type of label for the designer clothes. If you’re not sure (and the results can be very similar) take a print out of the genuine design with you and compare them to make sure you get the genuine product.

4.      Check for Quality of the Work: You will only get the best quality when you buy designer clothes. You are paying the price for great sewing and excellent materials. Make sure that these live up to expectations. If there are any loose threads, it is a sign of knock-off goods. If the materials feel rough, you may want to look elsewhere.

You do not need to spend a fortune on designer goods but you should definitely do your research. This is the best way to make sure you are buying genuine products. There are many companies offering knock off goods that are very similar but they will just cost you more money in the long term.
