For the past 25 years, Australian-born superstar Kylie Minogue has been showcasing her skills as a singer, songwriter and actress; not only that, she’s become known as an international style icon. The launch of her new book, titled Kylie/ Fashion, is a photographic tribute to Ms Minogue’s looks over the past 25 years, giving fans and fashionistas the opportunity to see their idol’s style evolution throughout each stage of her illustrious career.
She’s been hailed as the Princess of Pop and the Queen of Disco, wowing audiences worldwide with hit after catchy hit – and the star’s signature outfits have enjoyed the same success as her songs. From her wholesome, girl-next-door look in the soap opera Neighbours to the cheeky hot pants and crop top combos she sported on stage, Kylie Minogue has carried off each and every fashion choice with confidence and class.
Moving with the Times
Kylie’s wardrobe is constantly evolving to suit the current trends, but the singer always manages to maintain something unique and special about her style. This is evident in Kylie Minogue’s on-stage performances and official music videos. The white hooded dress from 2001’s Can’t Get You out of my Head video, the crimson ensemble from her Red Blooded Woman video in 2003, and the silver bikini and thigh-high boots from the 2007 Fever tour are just a few of the many examples that spring readily to mind. And who can forget that fabulous showgirl costume Kylie donned for her 2007 comeback tour? This was a particularly special tour for Kylie, as she had been fighting hard to overcome breast cancer – despite some reworked dance routines and slower costume changes to accommodate her medical condition, she delivered an energetic and outstanding performance, hailed by critics as “nothing less than a triumph”. Since then, Kylie Minogue has continued to go from strength to strength, and her sense of style has been no exception.
“There was a time I would have loved to be a fashion designer” Kylie told press, “but performing won in the end”. She’s certainly got an eye for fashion though – she’s chosen leading style experts to help her create her look, working with Stella McCartney, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Christopher Kane to name a few.
Kylie Minogue recently launched her new fashion book at Harrods, where she wore a gorgeous fringed dress in canary yellow, created by celebrated UK designer Stella McCartney. Kylie looked radiant in this yellow lace dress, which she paired with nude heels. Here’s to many more successful and stylish years for the talented Kylie Minogue!
