A wedding wouldn’t be right without some beautiful flower arrangements. You need flowers on the pews or chairs as you are walking down the aisle, you need flowers on the tables at your reception and, perhaps the most important wedding flowers of all, you need flowers to hold (and throw at the group of single women). However, wedding flowers aren’t one size fits all. They have to be right for your taste and your personality. Your flowers need to fit in with the overall theme you have for your wedding. They are, in essence, the finishing touches that bring all the small parts together. So how do you choose the right ones for you?
First of all, you need to know that whatever it is you want is right. It isn’t about what other people think are beautiful wedding flowers, but about what you think. It is your day after all. Really, the only constraint you have in terms of your flowers is your budget. However, if you have no idea what you want, you should speak to a good florist and tell them what your theme is going to be, what atmosphere you are going for and what you like and don’t like. They should be able to show you some pictures of bouquets that might suit your taste, or even make you a small bouquet to give you an idea. Take the time to think of some questions you want to ask. For instance, do you want fresh or artificial flowers and what are the pros and cons? If you want to keep and dry some of your flowers, are there flowers that are better suited for that than others? These are all important questions to ask yourself and your florist.
What you do have to remember is that you shouldn’t go overboard with your flowers. Wedding flowers are great, but if they are absolutely everywhere, they will draw attention away from you and your special day. What is more important is how you position your flowers. You could pick your own flowers from a field near you and make them look fantastic just by positioning them the right way. If you are working with a florist, they shouldn’t make you feel as if you are wrong and they know it all. All they know is flowers, but what you know is what you want your wedding day to look like and they should accommodate you in that. However, do find a balance, because they will also be able to provide you with excellent advice. All in all, adding a little splash of color here and there and putting the right flowers in the right place should ensure your day is absolutely perfect.
